4. STRUCTURALMONITORING The structures monitored are prestressed reinforced concrete beams, part of a jetty, a structure intended for mooring oil tankers. The beams in this study are identified in the pian with IDs 34-35 (therefore referred to as 'Beam 34-35'). Geometrically, the beams are 30 m long and have an 1-shapedcross– section, 1.58 m high. At their ends, they rest on a reinforced concrete cushion connected to a hollow circular pier with a diameter of 2.5 m, which in turn terminates in a deep foundation, as illustrateci in Figure 1.
