6. SURVEVSAND CATALOGUEOFVIADUCTSAND BRIDGES The Sicilian Highway Consortium (CAS), thanks in part to memoranda of understanding signed with Sicilian universities, has launched a systematic infrastructure inspection project. The goal is to standardize inspection operations for bridges and viaducts by defining their physical and geometrie characteristics, identifying defects, and assessingtheir condition. ldentifying the state of deterioration of a structure, classifying it, and numerically assessing it following a standardized procedure is the first step in the operational process of planned infrastructure management. TEKNEwas entrusted with the primary visual inspection and surveys, allowing for the assessment of the defects found, following the methodology of the "Guidelines for the classification and management of risk, safety assessment, and monitoring of existing bridges" of the Ministry of lnfrastructure and Transport. The inspection was conducted by conducting a photographic survey to catalog the existing deterioration, supplemented by 3D scanning surveys, including drone flights for the most adverse conditions, and a series of structural investigations aimed at an initial diagnosis of the structural conditions, preparatory to any monitoring projects. A 2D and 3D geometrie survey (BIM) of the structures was then produced, processing the point cloud obtained via laser scanning and LIDARdrone flights. © 2025 TEKNEENGINEERING
